Three Rivers Ambulance Authority and Paramedics Logistics Indiana, LLC Sign Mutual Agreement to Transition EMS Responsibility

Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 25, 2022) – Three Rivers Ambulance Authority (“TRAA”) and Paramedics Logistics Indiana, LLC (“PLI”) jointly announce a mutual agreement to terminate the contract for ambulance operations in Fort Wayne. The agreement will end a 13-year relationship between the parties, with services transitioning directly to TRAA as of September 1, 2022. PLI will turn over all equipment, materials, and supplies to TRAA and help ensure a smooth transfer of service for the citizens of Fort Wayne.

Rachel Guin, Chairperson of the TRAA Board of Directors stated, “as our long-time ambulance operations contractor, PLI delivered excellent service to Fort Wayne for many years, but the last few years have been difficult. We have worked with PLI’s management to reach the shared decision that the best action is to terminate the contract at this time. We are confident based on our experience that the decision to manage EMS operations more directly is the best decision for our community in terms of service delivery, efficiency, and sustainability.

“While we are proud of our record in Fort Wayne, including being named Indiana ALS Provider of the Year three times from 2016 to 2019, given the external factors and circumstances at play since the pandemic, we agree that mutually ending the contract is the best outcome for us and the Fort Wayne community,” said Herman Schwarz, CEO of PLI. “TRAA has been a good partner and we expect to support them fully through the transition. Our goal is to ensure that the people of Fort Wayne continue to receive the services they deserve.”

TRAA plans to retain the current workforce, which is familiar with the needs of the system and the local community. Joel Benz, the Executive Director of TRAA will oversee the day-to-day activities of TRAA operations going forward.
